Poseidon Pellets have been collaboratively developed with the US EPA through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. These pellets efficiently absorb phosphate from water upon contact, employing a straightforward and environmentally friendly process. Composed of naturally occurring and sustainable mineral materials, the pelletized product is non-hazardous, insoluble in water, and poses no toxicity to aquatic plants and wildlife. This versatile solution can serve as a filter media to extract phosphate from diverse sources including lakes, streams, drains, and channels.
Each 15# filter sock can remove up to 1# of phosphorus. We recommend placing them in recirc streams, stormwater inflow points, and anywhere water enters a pond or lake. The number of filter socks to add depends on how quickly you want phosphorus taken up and the flow rate where placed. But even starting with one sock per inflow point is a step in the right direction. The filters typically would be replaced every few years and once saturated, can potentially be recycled as a soil amendment.
