Pond logs are used to treat turbid or nutrient laden water reducing TSS (Total Suspended Solid) values, NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units), nutrients and metals. Based on previous experimental data, reduction of Chlorophyll a can be achieved. This nutrient treatment can be accomplished using an existing aeration system by attaching the log over a diffuser or under a fountain. Pond logs may also be placed at the base of a waterfall or incoming water source. Life expectancy of the pond logs is between 2 - 3 months and are they typically used at a rate of 2-4 logs per acre.
